[INTERVIEW] Xports News : Lngshot Ryul: 'A look-alike of Eun Ji-won? Even my aunt acknowledged the resemblance'

Xportsnews introduces, in detail, singers who are currently building their fandoms but aren't yet familiar to the general public, or those who are gearing up to step into the bigger spotlight. Let us help you "stan" them.

(Xportsnews, Reporter Myeong Hee-sook) They say names have a way of defining one’s destiny. A "long shot" refers to a shot in sports with a low probability of success.

However, Lngshot saw an explosive reaction as soon as they released their first mini-album, SHOT CALLERS. The four members, who seem to carry the DNA of Jay Park, showcased their charming, free-spirited energy on stage.

Their debut album, including the title track "Moonwalkin," surpassed 100 million cumulative streams on Spotify—the world's largest music platform—in just 59 days. Listeners all over the globe have recognized Long Shot’s appeal, and since their debut, the group has been gaining unique, firsthand experience meeting international fans.

Below is the Q&A with LongShot.

Q. You’ve surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify. Does it feel real yet?

Ohyul: I think it’s incredible for a group only a month into their debut. It’s truly moving. Many fans tell us they love us because of our music, and I believe that is entirely thanks to them.

Q. You’ve been receiving a lot of attention since your early debut days. What do you think is the reason, and what is your appeal?

Woojin: I can confidently say that our song style and lyrics are both plain and very natural. I think fans like our raw, teenage-boy energy rather than a hidden or overly refined image. Perhaps many people have been waiting for this kind of idol style all this time. If we keep going like this, I think we might even hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts with our next mixtape or album.

Q. Being called "Jay Park’s idols" must be both a source of strength and a mountain you have to climb.

Ohyul: We also believe that we need to surpass our CEO someday. He started as an idol and reached his current position by overcoming so much; we think the very act of taking on challenges is admirable. We believe we have our own unique strengths, and our CEO even told us that he is certain we can surpass him. Keeping that in mind, we are going to work hard to do just that.

Q. What is Lngshot’s ultimate goal?

Ryul: We want to make music that lasts as close to forever as possible. I once saw four elderly men riding in a large van at a crosswalk. It made me think that I hope we can still be riding in a van like that and making music until we are grandfathers ourselves. That scene felt exactly like our future.

Q. Do you have any specific achievements you want to reach this year?

LNGSHOT: We want to win the Rookie of the Year award at the Korean Music Awards. Since we are receiving so much attention despite coming from a smaller agency, we think we can win that award if we just keep working even harder.
